In July of 2008, Sally and Andrew Brunger sat in their Paris apartment eating charcuterie and drinking wine when it occurred to them that there was very little knitwear, even in Paris, that was cut for a tall, slender man.  Seeing a need for well fitting pieces with color and fine detailing, they said, “Let’s book a flight to Lima and make some!”  And so they did.  “Hurrah!

H aving worked together often in Peru when Sally was head designer for a high end knitwear brand, it made perfect sense for this team of double alpha Creative Directors to finally do a line of their own.  Home they came with a pile of alpaca sweaters with slim sexy fits, made for the perfect modern urban dandy – the well dressed man with a sense of humor who isn’t afraid of color or mixing it up.

Andrew was raised in Europe as a kid – and never acclimated to the boxy American knits offered stateside, nor the boxy anything for that matter.  Sally had been designing clothing since she could wield a pencil and sketchbook, but never made the “big move” to launch a brand of her own. 

The husband and wife team are no strangers to the entrepreneurial fire, having founded KolDesign in 2002, a product design company that began with the Kol Body and Bath line.  Kol sells widely in Japan, Hong Kong, Canada and select USA stores.  With clean and modern design, Kol offers non-gender based scents of places the couple love from around the world.  Kol’s biggest customers have always been men and architects.  “Men are much more loyal to brands.  Once they find something that works for them they stick with it for much longer than women do,” says Andrew. However with enough requests to start designing the same for the girls, the team is finally dipping their toe into the women's market.

The line offered here is a small and limited selection of not only alpaca and pima cotton knitwear from Peru, but also a bit of jewelry and links to Kol bath and body products. The Brungers hope to expand in time, but for now are very pleased to offer a taste of the goods.
